USDA School Snack Guide – Smart Snack List for Parents and Faculty at SES

Richland School District Two Board Policy ADF School Wellness addresses food and beverages sold and served at schools.  Richland School District Two follows the USDA Smart Snacks in Schools guidelines in every Elementary, Middle, and High School.  This list was developed to provide examples of Smart Snacks that are allowed to be provided to students at Sandlapper.  To find out if a food or beverage meets the nutrition standards, visit the online Smart Snacks Calculator.  Please note the serving size restriction on packaged items. The package will allow you to see how many serving sizes are in the package and how much an approximate serving size is for that item. We have narrowed our selections by serving size, saturated fats, and carbohydrates.

Guidance for birthday treats: While we do allow Smart Snacks to be provided as birthday treats, please keep in mind that acceptable non-edible treats can be provided in lieu of food.  Examples of non-edible treats are pencils, erasers, stickers, trinkets/party favors, etc.
