Clothes at Sandlapper
If your child has outgrown their clothes (shirts, shorts, *pants), please consider donating them to Sandlapper’s Health Room. Frequently, accidents occur at school requiring a change of clothes. For those who have received clothing from the health room, please wash the clothes and return them so we can have clothes when another child needs them.
Parents of kindergarten students, we appreciate you for providing clothing at the beginning of the year. The clothing provided at the beginning of the year may not fit your child now and may not be appropriate for cooler weather. Please send in clothing that will fit your child during each season.
News about Free Services
Testing time is just around the corner, and we want our students to do their very best not only during testing but each and every day. Our school is fortunate to have services available to help students have the necessary tools to be successful.
Our school partners with Healthy Learners, a nonprofit organization that helps children who do not have medical insurance get the health care they need. They provide eye exams and glasses, hearing evaluations, dental care, limited doctor’s visits, prescription medications and counseling services, and or other health needs. Healthy Learners will also provide a replacement pair of glasses for students who are covered by Medicaid but who have already used their vision benefit for the year.
Healthy Learners can provide transportation for your child to their appointment if you so choose. There is no charge to the child or family for Healthy Learners services.
If your child has a health need and you would like to know if you qualify for Healthy Learners’ services, please contact Nurse Carter at 691-4045 ext 29010 or alcarter@richland2.org.
Medication Policy
All medication, including cough drops, must be in the original package or pharmacy container. Students may not carry any medications (including cough drops) on their person, or have them in their purses or bookbags. The health room will dispense all medication. Parents must fill out and sign a medication administration form stating the medication name, dose, time to be administered and termination date. Please contact the Health Room if you need a form.
